I am Cricket. I, along with my adopted daughter Pudgie, was left at a shelter when our owner died and her child did not want us!  Needless to say this irritated me greatly.  I knew our owner thought her child would love and care for us as she had.  But that was not the case.  So after years of dedicated love and devotion we were simply tossed out.  I was angry.  Here I was in this tiny box trying to protect Pudgie in an impossible situation!  When this strange woman came and wanted to touch me you bet I bit... at anyone who wanted to touch me or Pudgie without a proper introduction! I tell you...young people today! No manners at all!

Anyway, this lady didn't let my attitude stop her.  And she took us home with her.  I have been to the vet and am in excellent health for a dog my age thank you.  And I have discovered there are a lot of these new generation Chihuahuas who need their manners attended to.  So I have been having a time of it trying to keep them in their places and to show proper respect for their elders (me!).  All in all we have a very good new home.  I am growing rather fond of the lady...being older and wiser I do not wear my heart on my leg like Pudgie does!

Cricket is an elder chi who came to me with her best friend Pudgie who is considerably younger than she is.  Cricket is a  no nonsense bitch.  She does not suffer fools and can get snippy around other dogs who challenger her place as alpha!  She LOVES to give kisses and to be snuggled and really needs to be the center of attention.

Hum...of course I need to be the center of attention!  I am older than all of them put together.  I am NOT given the respect I should !  Nor do I get the senior Alpha position that is Mine! Mine! Mine!  I am meaner and stronger and can bite harder than any of those pups!

I could get use to satin! Catching rays  I need a nap!

Cricket is a dominant alpha bitch.  She must be the senior, commanding alpha.  She was very protective of Pudgie when they first came to me, but has not been as bad recently.  We put her age at 12-13 years and she is strong and fit.  She was spayed after I got her and we almost lost her because her uterus was not normal.  However, she is fine now.  She would do very well as an only dog or there are other dogs  not alphas.  She is also nippy and she isn't a fear biter either.  So when she curls that lip and says enough, that is exactly what she means!  I have been bitten many times through the years, but I respect this elder and her teeth the most!

Cricket is up to date on her shots, house broken, on Heart Guard and has been spayed.  If you think she might fit in with your personality and lifestyle then please let me know!  Because of her age and personality I will only allow her to be placed *locally* (within driving distance) so she will not be taxed or stressed in any way.

She needs a home with no children since she has no patience with them. I would prefer to place Pudgie and Cricket together for Pudgie's well being.

I am Pudgie.  My friend Cricket and I were left at a shelter our new Mom "rescues" puppies like us from!  Another rescue worker called her and asked if she could help us.  I was so scared when she came to get us.  I wouldn't come out of the crate they had us in.  That didn't stop Mom though!  She took me home with her anyway.  Cricket too.  Even though Cricket bit her!  I really felt bad and sick when we got home.  She took us into the vet and made sure we were ok and got our shots.  The vet said I needed my teeth cleaned badly so Mom made an appointment.  It was then that the vet discovered why I felt so bad...there was an infection way down deep in some of my teeth and they had to be removed.  I don't remember them doing this cause they made me sleep through it so I wouldn't hurt.  I woke up when Mom picked me up to take me home , but then fell right back to sleep again.  When I woke up next I was home! And boy did I feel better! I felt so good I ran and ran around the house barking...something I hadn't done before...just so Mom would know how happy I was!

Pudgie is a very gentle and sweet little girl. Very shy and quiet she doesn't do well around a lot of people. She loves her family, but doesn't want to be petted by strangers and she finds vet trips traumatic. When she first came to me I really thought she was going to mourn the loss of her previous owner until she died. It took weeks to get through to her and Cricket never left her side except to potty. She ate, slept and cleaned her. She kept Pudgie grounded until she started to recover.  I had hoped to place Pudgie into an only dog home with no kids or excitement to bother or upset her. However I have a feeling she is going to remain a Mom's girl!

Nap Time!

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!

That looks interesting!
