I
am Crystal. I am new here. I was one of almost 100 Chihuahua's that
were taken in a mill bust last summer. I was lucky. They thought
that there might be help for me. Some of the dogs were not that lucky.
3 of us were taken in by a really nice rescue lady who that much bigger dogs
called dachshunds. The other two chi were not as afraid as I was and
they soon had new homes. I was terrified and didn't want to come out
of the bathroom! Also, my back legs hurt and I couldn't walk on
one. There isn't much to tell about me right now. I am with
other little dogs and I am warm and fed and have my own bed and space and I
don't have to stay there all the time if I don't want to. My new mom
says I will need a very long time to heal...
Crystal update! Crystal
and another of my rescues (Winston) have moved to New York to live with a
very nice lady who simply adores them!

| Hi
There!
I am
Oliver (Ollie) ! I came with my sister Pris just a few months ago when
our mom had to start working long hours. We really enjoyed our time
here with our new mom and it didn't take long for her to find us both really
nice homes! I am living in SC right now with a really neat family who
has another boy dog just like me AND there are 2 boys here to play with and
sleep with. I am a very luck Oliver! |

Hi
There! I am Pricilla (Pris for short!) and I am just the cutest thing
ever! I came to stay here with my brother Oliver (Ollie) and we
just had the best time here. Our Mom had started working a lot
and didn't feel we were getting the attention we needed. So here we
were. For a long time we thought that we were going to stay here. We
spent a lot of time
together playing, but then Ollie started getting too rough when we
played and I wasn't having as much fun. He started playing with the
other fur kids and I just sat around and watched because I am so cute and
tiny I didn't want to get hurt. Well, one day my new Mom took me with
her to visit a friend and guess what? his nice lady had another tiny
little Chihuahua just like me named Abby. Abby had an accident and had
to have one of her legs removed, but she was very glad to see me. There were also a
couple of other little girl dogs and we all played and had the bestest
time! We spent a lot of time there and then one night she left
me. I wasn't too sure about that, but I soon was playing with the
girls and forgot all about it. Then it happened. I found out I was going to
be staying with Abby and Cricket and Sadie and Molly! All of these
little girls just like me! Well, I missed Mom of
course, but this is such a nice place here and I am so happy she loved me
enough to let me stay with my new family and my "forever" Mom! |

Cents of Understanding
==========================
A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell.
He painted a sign advertising the pups and set about nailing
it
to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving
the last
nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls.
He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.
"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your
puppies."
"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat
off the back of
his neck, "these puppies come from fine parents and
cost a good
deal of money."
The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching
deep into
his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held
it up to the farmer. "I've got thirty-nine cents.
Is that
enough to take a look?"
"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he
let out a whistle,
"Here, Dolly!" he called.
Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed
by
four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his
face
against the chain link fence.
His eyes danced with delight.
As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy
noticed
something else stirring inside the doghouse.
Slowly another little ball appeared; this one noticeably
smaller.
Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward
manner the
little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best
to
catch up.
"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing
to the runt.
The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said,
"Son, you don't want that puppy.
He will never be able to run and play with you like these
other
dogs would."
With that the little boy stepped back from the fence,
reached
down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers.
In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both
sides of
his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.
Looking back up at the farmer, he said,
"You see sir, I don't run too well myself,
and he will need someone who understands."

| Shamoo
has been placed. Soon to be updated!
Hi! My Name is
Shamoo and I am a very energetic chi mix boy! I love to play and take
naps. My favorite hobby is eating! I am a young adult and have all
my shots and am house broken. I am also altered. I am very laid back and
play well with others. However I do like to play with my toys by myself
sometimes and I really have a fear of crates!
See...I came from a home
where this horrible lady kept me in a crate 24/7 for a WHOLE YEAR! I was hardly
fed anything so the crate didn't have to be cleaned as often. Being made
to stay in a crate is just about the worst punishment in the world for me! I
didn't know what to do when I was finally saved from that place!
I am a very, very
good boy and I love to snuggle and to play hard with toys and be held...I just
want a good home where I can be happy, safe and warm. I
would make someone a really great companion. I Promise!
Sham Update: This
gentle, loving boy was diagnosed with epilepsy just a few months ago. He
is on an extremely low dose of phenobarbitol once a day and is doing
exceptionally well. He hasn't let it get him down and he sill loves life
and wants to play...he deserves a special home and lots of love and
attention. Could you be the one he is waiting for?
Sham is now living in
foster care with the father of the owner of Happy Hills Rescue. You can find
out more about him by contacting them at:

Wish
I wish I was a Rottweiler and I could carry a gun
I'd go after all those folks, who think that
tortures fun
I gather up a gang of us, a Spitz, a chi, a hound
We'd travel in a motor home, and hunt these people
down
We'd start with all the puppy mills, we'd open all
their doors
And tell them all "run like the wind, and head
for golden shores
There's someone there that's waiting, with open
arms for you
I promise you can trust them, they're animal rescue
If I could talk, I'd call the millers out into the
night
I'd bear my teeth, and hold my gun and watch them
shake in fright
And then I'd laugh and laugh and laugh and then I'd
laugh some more
As I threw them in the wire cage and slammed the
metal door
So its on to the next, Oh this is fun as we joke
around with each other
We start drawing maps and making plans
Got a lot of ground to cover.
There's a pit on the road, someone has dumped
We offer him a ride, Its not hard to see the life
he has led by the pain
that's in his eyes.
We give him lots of food and drink, and he shows no
aggression
He hears our plan and wants to join, and teach
mankind a lesson
We're off again, to search this land for the
murderers who went free
To teach the ones who stomped and burned and hung
dogs from a tree
One by one we paid them back for everything they've
done
And repeated their words back to them, "isn't
torture fun?".
After days and days of traveling, gathering troops
along the way
Thinking of our forever homes and the people who
threw us away
We long for a loving family, Oh wouldn't that be
neat!!!
Instead, they dump or beat us or have us put to
sleep
Maybe we are not thru yet, there's many more folks
to see
The judges and lawyers, the USDA or maybe the AKC.
We give all politicians giardia and mange, on
the highway by the side
of the road
And strip them of their dignity, give them fleas
and ticks abode.
I smile to myself as this vision dances in my head
My eyes grow very heavy, as I snuggle in this soft
bed
I can hear in a far distance, dogs whinning and
then a scream
When I wake up, I realize that this was all a dream
The wire digs into my side, my feet and body's sore
As I look down to the ones below that cold, hard,
wire floor
I start to beg like all the rest, please set me
free today.
I pray to God, I'd rather be dead then live this
horrible way
And guess what, I'm not a rot nor do I have a gun
I'm just a little Dachshund, put on earth to play
and run
To be loved by ALL humans, like every dog should be
But if I did have a gun right now, I'd use that gun
on me.

Spike
Update! I have a new home and this is what my forever mom says:
Hi,
My name is Theresa and I
recently adopted Spyke from Happy Hills. Because of his unfortunate past I
renamed him Odio gli uomini which means "I hate men" in
Italian. I call him Odi for short. He is doing extraordinarily well
and opened up to me quickly. I have two young cats who he likes very much.
One of my cats, Mishmish ("peach" in arabic), is his
favorite and Odi copies Mish when ever he gets the chance. I do spoil Odi,
he eats out of silver dishes embellished with gold crowns (plastic of
course, but the effect is there) and gets to do almost whatever he wants,
including having some Thanksgiving turkey! Odi is going to be in my
Christmas picture this year, if you would like a copy please send me your
address or I can email you a digital copy. If you have any specific
questions please let me know. He is doing wonderfully and I adore his
companionship.
Happy Holidays,
Theresa
I'm just wondering
when "Spike's" info is going to be updated. He truly is doing
wonderfully with me. He's even learning to trust my parents. He know that
their presence equals FOOD! He loves bacon, LOVES bacon. He sleeps on
the right HALF of my QUEEN size bed and sometimes comes onto my side with me
and one of my cats. He follows me everywhere, comes when called, goes on
walks in the park, snuggles, sleeps in my lap while I read, begs for treats.
He is remarkable given what happened to him and is the most loving obedient
pet I have ever known.
Theresa
I am
Spike! My foster mom says I am going to be with her a while so that I can
learn to trust people before she lets me go to a new forever home. That's
ok...I am very happy right here with mom!
I am a small
boy...and underweight she says so I should be about 12 pounds to be at my
best. I am working on it with all the good food and snack treats I am
getting. I am going to need a home with no children and only maybe one
other small dog as a friend to be my happiest. A lot of company
overwhelms me. She wants someone with time and patience to help me
overcome my fear of being hurt/hit by people. I really want to be loved and to
have my own person. Mom is very special and I spend as much time with her
as I can, but she thinks I would be happiest being the center of attention...I
don't know what that is since it has never happened to me but she makes it
sound so good! I have been taken to the vet and I have heart worms...but
the nice Vet said that I needed to have other things worked on first before I
could be treated for them. I have all my shots, have been altered and
have had my teeth cleaned...I have had to have some of them taken out because
they were infecting me. I have been on medication to get my mouth well. I
needed to gain some weight too. So it will be a few more weeks before I
can have my treatment. However, you can still check me out and if you
like me and want me as your special little man then you can ! I really need to
be an only pet environment. I get along well with other small dogs but I
am afraid of some dogs. I am not sure I would like other life forms
either...I am still shy and easily scared...but I want to love and trust so
badly. Don't you think you might like to have me too?
Spike has
completed his heartworm treatment and is doing very well. He is looking
for a loving female home with no men and no kids and preferably an only dog!

UPDATE!!! I HAVE A NEW HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|

|
Hi! I am Jpeg! I am
a little older and bigger than these pictures show...but Mom has been busy and
hasn't been able to slow me down enough to get more pictures of me. I am
kin to both Pookie and Roxanne...Roxie thinks she is tough and the number two
dog in the yard...but I think I could take her if Mom would let me...but SHE is
a party pooper and when she says no she really means no!!!!
AND best of all, my new home in MS is WAITING for me right now. Mom is
just arranging transportation and I will be outta here! I love Mom and
will miss her. But I REALLY need to be the center of attention and I know
Mom would only let me go to the best home! |

Hi. I am
Spencer. I am going to be a big dog. I am big now (65#) and I am
just 9 months old! While Gillie is a small girl, I look as if I
have some retriever in me! I am very strong too. Spencer
update! Spencer moved a large breed rescue in Beaufort SC. He is
happy and well adjusted and very pleased with himself and his home! There
was a lot of interest and he was placed quickly! Thanks Louise for all
your advice, help and your fostering of this big boy until he can be
placed! |

My name is Maeve and I was
born just Oct.30th, 2000. My birth mom got very sick when we were born
and so my people mommy became our Mom and took care of us and fed us and loved
us. All my sibs have gone to their brand new forever homes now and Mom
simply cannot part with me. She says I am special! I haven't been
around long enough to have gotten into a LOT of trouble...yet. But Mom is
confident that my "profile" will grow along with me! And so it
has! Mom just found out today that I can climb like a monkey over
the 6 foot gate! It was so funny watching her running across the
yard trying to catch me if I fell! I didn't know Mom could move that
fast! I have just moved, with my Aunt Pookie, to a nice big horse farm in
VA...and guess what!?! My SISTER Lovey lives here too! Yay!
We have been catching up on all the news since I got here and we have been
having so much fun I hardly have time to spare for my new Mom much less my old
one! Lots of room to run and play and new smells! |

Call me Pookie (Swiftwater
Run With the Wind ). I was 2 on April 14th. I am a proper lady JRT. I am
large-boned, gentle and have no desire to be number one. I am a major
snuggler and love nothing more than a good cuddle. Where Mom is I want to
be! She knows the right places to scratch and exactly where I need
my ears rubbed. My favorite snack is bread...I love bread! I don't care what
kind or what's in between it. I couldn't care less where the beef is as
long as it is attached to a very large bun! Hobbies are
catching rays in my favorite spot and keeping Maeve in her proper place. Sigh.
She is such a trial sometimes, but what can you do? Puppies will be
puppies! My very first favorite thing to do though is water! During the
summer I spend time in the water and can never get enough of chasing the hose.
Mom says I am "Mommy's girl" and will attach myself with an invisible
cord whenever she stops for a minute or two. This isn't the reason
though...sometimes she forgets where she is going (the kitchen) and goes off in
the wrong direction (not the kitchen). It is my responsibility to get her
moving where she needs to be (back to the kitchen)...I have a new big happy
place in VA with lots of room and other animals to play with! Mom said I
would have a wonderful time here! And she was right...there are very big
dogs kept in a house all their own (my new Mom calls them horses...) and I have
a lot of fun telling them who the boss is. I have settled in nicely with
my own couch and the puppies to keep in line...it is a full time job.
Plenty of water to play in/with too! |
 |
My name is Geliefde
(Gillie). It means sweetheart in Dutch and Mom named me that because that
is what she thinks I am! She calls me a "sooner" because I am
sooner this than that! She is thinking I am going to be a medium
size dog (45-50pounds) and I am about a year old now. I have been wormed,
had my puppy shots and rabies vaccine. I am on Heart Guard heartworm
preventative. I am also spayed. I am very smart and I sit when Mom
tells me to and let her brush me and trim my toenails. I am crate trained
and working on being house broken. I really prefer staying outside most
of the time if it isn't too cold/rainy. There are just too many things to
do and see to be stuck inside!
Gillie has moved to a foster home rescue situation in
VA. Thanks Debra!
